The main composition of ASTM A335 Grade P5 Alloy Steel pipes includes chromium and molybdenum. Chromium increases high-temperature strength by enhancing oxidation resistance, resulting in improved yield, tensile strength, and hardness at room temperature. Molybdenum further strengthens the pipe, increasing its elastic limit, wear resistance, impact values, and hardness. It also prevents the softening of steel, resists grain growth, and reduces susceptibility to embrittlement, making these pipes suitable for highly corrosive environments. Additionally, P5 pipes have high creep and pitting resistance.
ASTM A335 P5 Alloy Steel Pipe can undergo various heat treatments such as full annealing, isothermal annealing, normalization, or tempering. The addition of nickel and manganese enhances the hardness of the pipes, ensuring excellent performance under high-temperature conditions. The low absolute roughness of P5 Seamless pipes ensures high precision in their dimensions, which is crucial for applications requiring high accuracy.
