A513 Dom Tube, ASTM A513 Type 5 Dom Tube, Dom Tubing, A513 Mechanical Tubing Steel, A513 Type 5 Drawn Over Mandrel Tubing, A513-5 Dom Tubing, A513 Type 5 DOM Welded Tubing, ASTM A513 Type 5 Round Steel Tube.

Solitaire Steel is a prominent manufacturer, supplier, stockist, exporter, and importer of A513 Type 5 Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) Tubing. DOM Tubing is crafted from high-quality C1020 carbon steel strip, which is shaped and welded into a basic tube form. After the initial welding, the tube undergoes an annealing process to ensure a consistent grain structure. It is then cold pulled over a mandrel, which enhances its uniformity and performance. This process results in precise concentricity, reduced ovality, closer tolerances, a denser surface, and consistent wall thickness, leading to superior physical properties.

The term “DOM” refers to the manufacturing technique rather than the tubing itself. The process starts with an Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) tube, which is then cold drawn over a mandrel. This technique refines the weld area, making it dense and homogeneous, similar to the base metal. The mandrel’s design influences the tube’s Outside Diameter (OD), while the Inside Diameter (ID) is determined by the mandrel or plug used during the drawing process.

DOM Tubing can be made from various materials, including mild steel and stainless steel, depending on the application’s requirements. The cold drawing process enhances the tube’s surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and weld strength. For mild steel DOM tubes, additional heat treatment is applied to improve mechanical properties such as machinability and toughness. This versatile manufacturing method ensures that DOM Tubing meets high standards for both performance and durability across different applications.

    FAQs

A513 T5 DOM tube is an electric-resistance-welded carbon and alloy steel tubing that is Drawn Over a Mandrel (D.O.M.) and through a die. It is primarily used as mechanical tubing and is available in round, square, rectangular, and special shapes.
DOM tubing (Drawn Over Mandrel) is cold drawn 1020/1026 electric resistance welded tube with flash removed before cold drawing. Compared to traditional electric welded tubing, DOM tubing is produced to very tight outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) tolerances.
ASTM A513 tubing covers electric-resistance-welded carbon steel tubing used for mechanical and ornamental applications. It includes various grades and types suitable for different requirements. For detailed information or specific project needs, contact suppliers directly or call for consultation.
