These pipes can be either hot-rolled or cold-drawn and are capable of reaching diameters up to 24 inches. Known as L290 pipes, API 5L X42 pipes have a maximum yield strength of 290 MPa and are primarily used for transporting oil and gas.

    API 5L X42 pipes are offered in two specification levels: PSL1 and PSL2. The PSL1 pipes are available in sizes ranging from 0.405 inches to 80 inches, and can come with various types of ends, including plain and threaded. In contrast, PSL2 pipes, including spiral pipes, are available in sizes from 4.5 inches to 80 inches and typically come with plain ends only.

    Our API 5L X42 pipes are crafted from high-quality materials and undergo rigorous testing to ensure their reliability. For instance, we perform hydrostatic tests on X42 ERW pipes to detect any potential leaks and conduct bend tests on PSL1 welded pipes to ensure the integrity of the welds. Additional tests, such as flattening, are carried out on API 5L X42 Grade pipes before they reach our customers.

    What is API 5L X42 Pipe?

    Trident Steel & Engg. Co. offers a diverse selection of X42 Carbon Steel Pipes and Tubes. The API 5L X42 pipe specification includes two product specification levels: PSL1 and PSL2. The API 5L X42 PSL1 pipe is known for its standard quality and is widely used. However, API 5L X42 PSL2 pipes provide enhanced properties and longer service life. These pipes undergo rigorous quality checks and are carefully controlled in terms of chemical composition to meet specific application needs.

    API 5L X42 pipes are used extensively across industries such as chemical processing, oil and natural gas, petroleum, and petrochemical sectors. These industries demand high-performance materials, making the API 5L X42 pipe a suitable choice for transporting various fluids and gas. For applications where corrosion resistance is crucial, we offer FBE-coated X42 pipes. The Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating protects the pipe’s surface, making it ideal for pipeline construction.
