Asme SA178 Carbon Steel Tubes Specifications
This specification covers electric-resistance-welded carbon steel and carbon-manganese steel tubes with minimum wall thickness, designed for boiler tubes, flues, superheater flues, and safe ends. ASTM SA 178 tubes are typically available in sizes from 1/2 to 5 inches (12.7 to 127 mm) outer diameter and wall thicknesses ranging from 0.035 to 0.320 inches (0.9 to 9.1 mm). Tubes with different dimensions can also be provided if they meet all specified requirements. Mechanical property standards do not apply to tubes smaller than 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) inside diameter or 0.015 inch (0.4 mm) in thickness.
