ASTM A53 Steel Pipe Production Process

The manufacturing process of seamless steel pipes is divided into hot-rolled and cold-drawn methods.

    • For hot-rolled seamless steel pipes, the production begins with heating the tube billet, followed by perforation, three-roller or cross-rolling, and continuous rolling. The process continues with de-piping, sizing, cooling, and straightening. Then the pipe undergoes a hydraulic test, marking, and inspection for the leverage effect.
    • For cold-drawn seamless steel tubes, the process starts with heating the tube blank and perforation, followed by heading, annealing, pickling, and oiling. Multiple cold drawings are then applied to the blank tube, which is subsequently heat-treated, straightened, and subjected to a hydraulic test and marking before being stored.
