    EN 10297-1 Grade E355 carbon steel seamless tubes are commonly referred to as mild steel pipes and tubes. These low-cost, low carbon steel tubes have a maximum carbon content of 0.22% and a manganese content of up to 1.60%, making them easy to form and shape. Manufactured according to EN specifications, they are often called carbon steel (CS) or mild steel (MS) pipes. While low carbon steel pipes are not as hard as high carbon steel pipes, processes like carburizing can enhance their surface hardness.

    This standard requires the use of deoxidized or killed steel grades for producing E355 steel tubes. The outside diameter of these tubes comes with a tolerance for out-of-roundness, while the thickness tolerance considers eccentricity. The tubes are delivered with square cut ends, which should be free of excessive burrs. A visual inspection of the tubes should reveal no external or internal surface defects. If any surface imperfections are present, they can be removed through grinding or machining, provided that the tube thickness in the treated area remains above the specified minimum wall thickness.
